Mirror Mirror on the 5Art wall, Who is the brightest (literally) artist of them all?
This Parisian born artist was listed on the Forbes France 30 Under 30 list in 2019 as someone to keep an eye on. Emmanuelle Rybojad has been creative her whole life, and it most certainly shows.
Insync with the idea that art and life are ever changing, Rybojad creates with that in mind. When looking at her works, the viewer’s eye constantly picks up on different details depending on where one stands. There is something so wonderfully intense about her use of mirrors, LEDs, and Neon lights. Having been inspired by the OpArt and pop culture of the 1970s, her techniques are also as interesting as her influences. She begins with a perforated mirror as a foundation and then creates patterns of Plexiglass rods shining with LED lights or Neons.
Skylight Mirror, 2019 has a beautiful square design with two layers of LEDs on top of a mirrored surface and is cozily situated under a protective plexiglass. Deep Circle Silver, 2019 has an infinity mirrored effect with Rybojad stacking rings of LEDs on top of a mirrored surface, alternating colors from the inside of the circle to the outside. She cleverly creates a multidemnsional space by lining the sides of her designs with the same mirrored LED shapes.
The best part about using neons and LEDs is that should either of these gorgeous pieces be chosen for your home, office or personal collection, they are entirely customizable. Using the modern technology of remote controls, you can adjust the color of her piece to match the mood of your space. Feeling like you need an energy boost? Pick a bold red or invigorating green. Feeling like you need a breath of relaxation? Choose a peaceful teal or zen deep ocean blue.
Her geometric shaped LEDs are perhaps the most recognizable of her works but Rybojad's neons caught the eye of an iconic band who’s been rocking and rolling the world over since 1962. Rybojad x The Rolling Stones was showcased to an inspired crowd in November 2023 as her take on the classic Rolling Stones tongue, lyrics, and style brought the house down. Emmanuelle Rybojad utilized her brightest neons and clean cut plexiglass creating a psychedelic effect with her skillful mastery of lighting and mirrors.
A rising star in her early career has now continued her artistic excellence well into the present day and this February, we have been lit up with love for Emmanuelle Rybojad and her always inspiring neons and LEDs!
