Daniel Arsham & Future Relics
If you are familiar with Daniel Arsham’s works, you know that a lot of his sculptures demontrating decaying or fossilized consumer detritus. For instance, he used hydrostone and glass sculpture with aluminum attaché case to make the Suitcase, 2019, which was also a collaboration with the suitcase luxury brand Rimowa. This artwork’s current market value has increased by about 150% since 2019.
In 2020, Daniel Arsham released Eroded Brillo Box, 2020. He designed this imagined sculpture with his future-relic concept, as a result of a collaboration with The Andy Warhol Museum, where he was granted access to the museum archives. The original Eroded brillo box, 2019 was made of quartz crystal and other calcified geological materials. The resin Eroded Brillo Box has risen roughly 100% on market value.
